Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT)

Source

It’s still under construction on the waterfront, but it’s already scheduled to open in the fall of 2016. The Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) is a project of the EDP Foundation, and was designed by British architect Amanda Levete. It will have almost 3000 square meters for exhibitions and events, and will be directed by the former curator of contemporary architecture of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Pedro Gadanho, who says that the future museum in Lisbon will be unique in the world, since no other crosses the disciplines of art, architecture and technology. It will present the relationship between art and new technologies, through contemporary and international programming.
It will also have a restaurant looking out to25 de Abril Bridge, and it will be possible to walk over the undulating shell-shaped building of curved lines. The exterior staircase will descend into the water, creating a large public space.
